Description

On August 27th at 8:00PM we will be able to watch a partial Lunar Eclipse. See the Moon through a telescope and watch it hide in the Earth's shadow. Parking Lot F
On August 27th at 8:00PM we will be able to watch a partial Lunar Eclipse. From 8:30PM until 11:15PM the Moon will slowly darken as it is 96% covered by the Earth's shadow. For the next 4.5 hours it will slowly brighten as it passes behind the Earth then begins to come out of the shadow finishing at 2:00AM. We will have experts here with telescopes and binoculars so you can see and learn about the eclipse. Come prepared for a fun and interesting event that we don't get to see very often.
This takes place at the Bong State Recreational Area parking lot F.
A current state park sticker for each vehicle is required and carpooling is encouraged.
To enable better viewing of the night sky we ask that all white lights be turned off and any other forms of light including cell phones be kept to a minimum and use dark mode when possible. Please note that this event is outside and weather dependent. Dress for possible cold temperatures with multiple layers of clothing for warmth as temperatures can drop quickly at night. This event may be cancelled because of inclement weather which includes snow, rain, significant cloud cover, or extreme temperatures.
